Awesome. I did too for years. I left because of tokenism. From entry level to executive leadership, it’s a complex system and I was so tired of being told how to serve Black people by White people. They have the money, and they are the boss. Do it their way, with their evidence, and their fundraising connections or they will see you to the door. Tokenism is real.
If Black folks were as charitable as they are consumers, it would be a totally different ball game. But since we’re not, we have people like Rachel who feel the need to transition, even though she didn’t really need to. She did so because it was beneficial for her financially.
