You know who else struggles with our “loss of car as the agent of harm” approach? Kamala Harris. You ever watch her speak about reparations? I have — she’s hard to nail down and leaves you with the impression she is test driving policy sound-bites. She is; I know. She is just not supposed to sound as if she is. Harris comes off as someone trying to shoehorn the actual problem (equality) into a limited solution spectrum (acres / mules / money), and failing miserably:
Catherine Pugh, Esq.
I am glad you said this. I didn't want to go there because the K-Hive are all in and anything said bad about her just...well, you know.
Anywho, I am so glad you said this. Harris has explicity said that she does not believe Black people should receive financial repartions. She gave a classic White/POC answer which in my opinion is the biggest issue with her candidacy as it concerns the ADOS base of the party. She's coming in to be the White man's champion. She'll be just like Obama, afraid to make any substantive changes that would Whites and the other PoC folks angry.
She wants to commission a study (now), but studies have already been done and presented to Congress. We need a remedy and it's long overdue, especially after the news over the past few weeks about the intentional racial stoking. White people need to finally pay for the shit they've done, including giving us this orange monkey that's killing us.
She is going to be a huge liability to the ticket come Novemeber if she doesn't get on the right side of history, but I don't expect her to, because she's a POC, not an ADOS, and that's the entire issue with Blackness. We're all Black, but all Black isn't the same.
