Trump Is Gone! Let Us Rejoice

Donald J. Trump is no longer our president, and I’m so glad.

I have never been so happy to see someone leave in all my life. This nightmare of Donald J. Trump’s presidency is over. I want to thank all my friends abroad who have shook their heads in bewilderment. Thank you to all of you who sympathized with us as we struggled to make sense of people could hate everything America could stand for. Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers. We’ve fought hard to make this day happen.

Bless all of Black folks and People of Color who endured. We made it ya’ll. Trump tried to kill us, yet we live. You have something to be happy about. So many people didn’t survive Trump’s presidency.

We made it. It’s an emotional day. I didn’t realize how emotional this day wold be for many of us.

Today, for twenty-four hours, White Supremacy didn’t get it’s way. The transition of power has happened, and President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris have taken their oaths. We are free of the evil that was Donald J. Trump.

Let us savor every, single, moment of this day. We can rejoice and celebrate the end of an evil regime. Take a day to reflect on all we’ve done. Relax and release. We’ve been stressed. We’ve lost many nights of sleep. We’ve gained weight and had our mental health taxed beyond measure. We’ve been beaten down by a malignant narcissist. Take time to decompress and grieve the minutes, days, weeks, months, and years we’ll never get back.

For this one day, let’s just be happy. Rejoice.

On tomorrow, we must continue fighting. White Supremacy never takes a break. Neither can we. It’s not that I have much hope that a lot will change with the new administration, but at least I have a little protective bumper of assurance we’re not going back to when America was great for racist White people, or worse.

Lastly, remember Black people made this day possible. As we all celebrate this moment, don’t forget the least respected group of people and now the second largest population in America, made this day possible. The most loyal group of people to America saved this ungrateful republic. America’s debt to Black people just got a little deeper. Wake up tomorrow and begin fighting for us, because we’re always fighting for and saving America.

Enjoy the rest of your day. I know I will. I briefly shared my latest thoughts on YouTube.

Happy Inauguration Day.

Marley K. 2021, relieved.
