I agree with all you’ve said. Most people I meet want seed money without risking anything of their own. Even when I explain things don’t work that way they insist on looking for free money. Who am I to kill someone’s dreams.
Most people want to be self-employed so they don’t have to put up with other folks bull. What they don’t want is to do the work to find out how to fund THEIR dream. Most of us don’t have the resources to fund or grow our business because we don’t have the collateral handed down to us. We don’t have the huge life insurance policies left to us my meemaw and pawpaw. We don’t have the connections and assets to have a line of credit. We definitely don’t do the research to find out whether we could sustain a business or not.
Back in the old days we used to work together and help each other build our businesses. Today, we are independents struggling. When didn’t have loans, we had us. We keep trying to use models not created for us and methods set up to exclude us. We also don’t do our due diligence before finding off we bit off more than we can chew. I advise people to do the research before approaching business ownership. It’s not what you think it is. For many (according the tax records) their businesses are their hobbies because they don’t make any money. Most don’t even break even.
I just get tired of people blaming White people for things like this when there is an established process.
