I am not surprised at all how Anita Hill answered H. Nemesis Nyx. As a woman of color, I have noticed the tone from our nation’s leaders have changed (for the worse) since the election of Obama in 2008. Something about the Black man in that White House drove these men batty.
I did not expect the tone to better. It’s been bad for the last 10 years. It went from bad to terrible when Trump won the election. Tone matters, and civility went out the door in November 2008. Men in power are acting like barbarians, leading those who are not in power/with little power to act the same way. Also there is a strong leaning towards Evangelical values, which are not the values of the majority of America. Evangelicals have a long history of being disruptive, and disrespectful to everything that’s not a White male unless it’s some country they are doing a mission in.
We should be sad, because we are left unprotected. People want to lead us, but they want to lead us for their own personal benefit, not for the benefit for the masses. I have lived in the South all of my life, so I know all the dog whistles, codes, and privilege talk disseminated among white men and their ally women today.
My bar is as low as this nation’s for our President and Congress. I expect nothing to change. I look to the nation’s collapse and its rebuilding to find change. As long as the status quo run the nation, we get the same results.
