I disagree. Black people have no reason to expect a fair experience in the criminal justice system therefore we can never trust any parts of it. A young black kid having consensual sex with his underaged girl friend is charged with statutory rape while Brett Kavanaugh gets to be a Supreme Court justice for his indiscretions (underage drinking, lying, molestation) and Brock Turner got a night in jail so he could repair his life. Trayvon Martin vs. George Zimmerman. And then even if a Black person makes it to a trial with a Black judge…White people are selected as jurors while Blacks are frequently dismissed because prosecutors and trial lawyers believe we can’t judge without bias, but white people can. We can’t even determine our own fates!
Nothing can ever be done to make Black people trust any part of America’s criminal justice system. It’s steeped in unfairness, bias, exclusion and racism. As long as this system stands, it will forever be tainted for good reason.
If we do receive justice, it’s a fluke. I trust history. I will never trust the police.
