…that has perpetuated systemic racism has to contribute to rebuilding in an equitable way? That until we reach equity, offices of decision making officials should be majority native Americans (51% at least) with the rest of the offices/seats split equitably somehow among all heritages and melanin levels? Fixing probably has to go as far as returning the stolen land.

I don’t think this will work because there are some groups who arrived here as immigrants after slavery who are better off than we are, they’ve practiced anti-Blackness and discrimination, and they have consumed positions to extend their groups social capital. For instance, Native Americans owned slaves, practiced anti-Blackness and withdrew access to tribal recognition for many Blacks who were enslaved and freedsmen living on reservations. Do they pay for practicing the same atrocities they were put through?
Black people uniquely have suffered longer, and at the hands of more races/ethnicities/nationalities than any other group. The totality of reparations definitely can’t just be by population size, because eugenices and involuntary were practiced in our communities causing our numbers to decrease drastically.
America has made a concerted effort to keep Blacks out of everything, recruiting other racial groups to help, and rewarding them when they do. More than White people need to be punished, Whites are just the biggest offenders. I don’t know what the solution is, but reparations and punishment must be included in the solutions. Anything else is just talk with no real road to making things right. The only thing that is going to make this right is our fast coming implosion. If everything fails, we can build something new that more equitable. But individuals don’t work on their biases and racism, I don’t see anything changing. America has made everything a competition. We are going to have to learn to care about each other.
Collapsing may be just the thing we need, if we can survive it. We can’t even be courteous to wear masks to save each other, I don’t think there is any hope for us. We are a selfish nation, and a stupid one.
