I know EXACTLY how you feel because I feel the same way. I really don’t want to talk anymore. I feel it’s an insult sometimes to be asked by white people what to do when I think of all the “good” education they’ve had, and all the academic superiority talk I have overheard during my lifetime. How can White people be so clueless and we live in the same country? How can they be so late to the fire they created?
But then I say this to myself (just because I know people so well)…if they ask you for help and then you don’t help, that can be used as another excuse to do nothing. I don’t want them to have any excuses. I’m want to say not only did I tell you, but I want to have a track record of providing leads to get their walk right with the Black community. I don’t think White people realize what is happening in America and how they look to the rest of the world right now. Our individualism has led to cognitive dissonance. Our facade is cracked and the world sees it. White people are no longer able to disassociate from white supremacy. They are being forced to see themselves as barbarians among other things. The only way to rehabilitate their images is to change. I have little hope, but at least I can say I died trying.
If we can’t get White people to do something to save lives as simple as wearing a face mask and staying indoors, how in the heck are we going to end racism?
We’re not. Until America does right by Black people, there will never be any peace.
