I love interfaith ministries. Before I left organized religion all together I was a part of a inter-faith church group that selected three projects/initiaties annually centered around justice. We stopped school-to-prison pipelines in a lot of school districts and we even got felons votings on the ballot so voters could make a decision. Unfortunately, Republicans and Gov. DeSATAN overrules us, but it was a win.
There are all sorts of ways to achieve justice Ben Bear. We must work according to our gifts and talents to achieve the goal. I have so much respect for those groups. It's a different type of way to get change, but it works. I also liked it because they moved in silence. We met, we voted, we raised money, we supported the head of the group, we served the community, and we got things done. That's what church is all about. I don't want to go to one if they aren't talking about justice!
Our pastor used this scripture to guide our group:
Matthew 23:23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."
This is where we are today. Work your magic Ben. By any means necessary. I love it! Please keep me posted on your progress. Working locally and in your state is where you have the best results.
