I really enjoyed this story. I’m always interested in how biracial children raised by White women are along with parents who are centered on assimilation (the kind who forsake their own cultures to take up Whiteness) and most are always the same. I appreciate you being able to share your views on race from as far back as a very young child, and how difficult it is being a part of two ethnic groups. White rules everything sadly. We all have stories like these. All non-White people forsake something to get the approval of the White gaze. It’s pretty horrific that we all have stories like these, no matter the culture. It’s also sad that so many people are raised anti-Black.
Great story telling. I’m happy that you’ve found your place, you’re recognizing who you are and I hope you find your happy place. It sounds like you’re well on your way.
