I understand, but that flaw in with elected officials is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. The President should really be quiet because our intelligence community had to go through much more rigor for the clearances used to do their jobs. They know all the dirt, are keepers of all the secrets, and they also know there system is flawed. I appreciate you highlighting the freedom of speech and how clearances should not taken away as punishment for speaking out against government officials.

They have rights. They can vote, and they are entitled to their opinions. They also can use their clearances to do work for the federal government in the private sector. While pulling Brennan’s clearance is not a big deal (he gets a pensions for life), the average law enforcement official retiring with a clearance and wanting to transition into private sector intel work are caught up in this slippery slope. If this continues, there will be many people with experience and top secret clearances unable to work because they speak out against their government. It is a slippery slope, and the price we pay will be new territory. I hope “We the People” are ready for it.
