I’m very sorry that you’ve learned the truth about America. But I’m also happy that you’ve found the key to successful living in America. #1: You’re Cameroonian, #2: you’re seen as a Black man in America even before you open your mouth, and then #3: you’re attempting to be an American — a person that is supposed to have inalienable rights living in a place where all men are supposed to be equal (except they are not).
Duality is how you live in America my friend, but that’s the thing most immigrants don’t get which is why so many struggle, giving up. It is not easy on any day, but you’ve survived worse I’m sure. It’s a state of mind. The way we live is a lifestyle, you take it off at home.
