In this climate I question whether it was a mistake. And if it was a mistake, it’s likely because the people in the newsrooms are alike. The lack of diversity in journalism has prevented editors from getting views alternative to their own perhaps limited worldviews which could have prevented the anti-Semitic trope being published. I loved the cartoons. Sometimes they were better than the ranting op eds. Even people who can’t read well understand pictures.
It’s a sad time indeed. We will pay a price for taking away all the varied methods the world is shared with us. I’m recording all the new norms in my journal. It’s unreal.
