Oh yes ma’am! I got a slap in the face. I thought I was in church and had been convicted by the Black common sense spirt (lol). I was like man this was deep. That peace really caused me to think about these labels we have which shifts the heavy burden onto ourselves instead of giving White people their own grocery bags and garbage cans to carry.
I’m really going to be more cognizant of the labels and terms I use surrounding advocacy and activism when it comes to racial and social justice. We must hold them accountable, and give labels to freedom fighters and good white folks when they truly deserve it. Too many White people have the label of being an ally when they don’t deserve it. We need to reclaim our time and change antiracism titles to appropriately describe the work done in antiracism by good white folks. Ally is inappropriate in my opinion.
Everything that’s broken and wrong in America is rooted in White Supremacy. They need to own it, then fix it. Thanks so much for reading and sharing as always. Please be safe out here. We need all of our sisters to live so we can tell the Black part of the story (lol). Our oral history is invaluable.
