Thank you for this posting. I had read reviews of the movie, several different ones, all with angry points of view negating to gently unveil the layers of this woman’s life. Who would choose to be Black? NOBODY comes here to the country is choosing to be Black. Even Africans make sure to differentiate themselves from our plights when coming here on VISAs for work and for schooling. Everybody in this society strives not to be at the bottom of the barrel with us Black folks deemed misfits of America, and yet this woman transformed her entire identity to do just that. I’m going to watch the movie, just because of this post. I’m a victim of trauma, and I have worked with lots of people who deal with their traumas in very different ways.

It ain’t easy, but we work through our issues to survive this cold, cruel world.
