Ignorant comments aside, I have serious problems with anyone, including other Black people, passing judgment on a person’s blackness. There is no shortage of men and women across racial lines who are often all-too-eager to ascribe la…

Thank you for writing about this horrible exchange. I had my own thoughts, but I want to hear what Black men have to say.
The interview started off hostile. Joe came with a chip on his shoulder because a Black man with a large national audience had questions and reservations about his candidacy and his past political record. After being in public life for 40 years it should be expected. His attitude was arrogant and came off as a Master on the plantationy to me.
I disliked Charlemagne allowed Joe to say what he wanted to say instead of asking him questions and giving him a Black agenda like White people do. He also allowed Joe Biden to talk to him slick using AAVE/tough guy dialect which irks my last nerve. Finally, I disliked how Charlemagne let Biden say whatever he wanted without challenging his record. CTG did not do his homework and was not prepared to check a slick politician. He proved he was an entertainer and not a real journalist. I didn’t care for him before this, I really think he is weak now.
The Joe “You Ain’t Black” comment to me is an indictment on the Democratic Party. They take us for granted and know we are a reliable voting block. They know we are voting for the least of the two evils. Joe all but said it.
It is a disgrace the party alternative allowed this old man to be our nominee. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. The Democratic Party is as racist as the Republicans are. They just do nice racism. Biden engaged in nice racism. I think this is the time we stand up for ourselves and make it plain we have am agenda. We need to say exactly what is we want. I’ve considered withholding my vote, but in the long run how does that help us collectively? We are back to our sunken place, picking the least of two evils. A racist and a more racist racist.
Great for us! I just love that for us. I don’t want a Black VP to go be nominated because they will be doing what we’re always elected to do, and that’s clean up White people’s messes. President Obama had to clean up after Bush. Whoever comes after 45 when/if he leaves will be cleaning up America. This nation has a habit of relying on us as their help.
We need to stop being so reliable.
I understand what’s at stake, but what do we have to lose at this point. No matter what happens, we are still going to be living under a White rule. I think the Democratic Party needs to be overhauled. The old guard needs to GO! Congress has rot on both sides of the aisle. We need to stop pretending one is the better than the other. They really aren’t. At some point, we must collectively stand for something. The Democratic Party knows we’ll vote for them no matter what, until we don’t
