Thank you so much for reading and sharing what you see from your part of the world. The circumstances and history of Soweto Blacks is different than US Blacks. Here in the U.S. we’d most likely consider them African and not take the time to dissect the differences in their Blackness from one country to the next. Black skin is probably the only unifying thing we have in common and even then many American Blacks have the DNA of colonizers in our bloodline from the enslavement of our ancestors. Our Blacks are not the same type of Black although the same scenarios have happened across the continent. Blackness will vary from country to continent. Each group will need to define their group’s characteristics and struggles. We may share Black skins, but not all Black experiences are the same.
