People often get caught up in the person or group being called rather than being concerned with the behavior that led to the discussion in the first. Deflection is a protective mechanism, but does nothing to address the roots of the racial discrimination. There is a reason people discriminate. Admitting it happens is one thing, delving into the why’s is another beast most don’t want to tackle.
