Thank you so much Luana Branscom for reading. I’ve lived in the South all of my life and I don’t ever recall it being so fractured. Even if people had political differences, somewhere, somehow religion would keep people cordial. Sadly, I don’t see this blatant “in your face” type of racism going anywhere anytime soon. White people started this trend (directly or indirectly via silence), and they are the only ones who can put this mess to bed for good. Until they speak up boldly, people of color will suffer.

It’s the equivalent of the police policing themselves. They never find anything wrong with their behavior. They just deflect, stick together, and continue the same old practices. People of color have been to this movie before, and we expect more of the same.
