Thank you Sonya. Being direct is a blessing and a curse, but I just can't play around with racism anymore. I'm thankful people can appreciate my writing style. It's not for the sensitive for sure.
Like your dad, my dad didn't tolerate racism either. He would go out of his way than to stand and allow people to disrespect him because he was Black. I would be so afraid when my dad would stand up for himself when he was in my presence. He did the same thing for my sons, teaching them not to cower to people attempting to disrespect them or disregard their humanity.
I never got to a witness an ally in action. That is indeed a memorable experience. Thank you so much for sharing it. Hopefully readers will find the courage to do the same anti-Blackness rears its ugly head in public spaces. Things are going to get worse before it gets better.
