That has nothing to do with systemic racism. We are educated now but still underemployed because racists make sure they are in positions of power (like HR) to make sure our apps are tossed or not selected even though we may be more qualified in preference of a mediocre White person.
How does education counter that? There are laws in place that are supposed to prevent and investigate employment discrimination, but the offices aren’t funded by the federal government and there is no national tracking system to ensure employers are hiring without bias. When you complain, there is no way for the disenfranchised employee to validate their suspicions.
Being more educated won’t help this situation and your suggestion is a way to deflect from giving real financial/tangible renumerations for the injuries as a result of system racism in this country. Education is a policy ploy to say we aren’t interested in giving you anything to make the playing field level.
