That’s funny you talk about this. I’ve only had one encounter with a guy from Nigeria I met in D.C. a few years ago on a business trip. WhatsApp was his preferred method of communication. From the moment he found my number was associated with WhatsApp, I was bombarded with all types of unwanted stuff throughout the day. He was Muslim which wasn’t an issue for me, but his use of the apps definitely was. I ended up blocking him because he messages got more and more religious with propaganda that I felt was inappropriate. It’s very annoying how people use these apps to share things with no regard how they affect the receiver. I have to detox. Good story on how apps aid in sharing fake news.
