The church clearly understands sex, but they refuse to acknowledge it. They are attempting to suppress human sexuality. In the process people are finding alternative ways to do something that is absolutely human. It starts with the fantasy there is a perfect man and he never had sex over 2000 years ago. Knowing what we know now — that is not hardly likely.
In the meantime, the worst of the worst are allowed to serve. We need to call out monsters and stop giving them a place to hide. Hurt people hurt people — and those people go on to hurt more people. It’s a vicious cycle. R. Kelly is what he is because his mother turned to church to address her lack. She left her children with a monster to worship God. The monster turned ruined her children’s lives and turned them into monsters. It’s easy to say we should throw away the key — but the cycle of abuse is much deeper than that.
You hit the nail on the head with the acknowledging our monsters and they need to be punished, treated, redirected, and some simply banished from the community altogether.
