The parade display is puzzling to me, but I will say racist now how to appeal to racist. I would be worried about a symbol of populism in that parade. The blackface was a symbol, a sign, a calling card if you will for those who think the same way. You’d be surprised at how White nationalists connect globally to share symbols and signs of hate or to highlight racism is in town. Nazis aren’t a part of our culture…but White Nationalists and the Alt-Right love the swastikas and hand salutes.

Racist know their own. They know how to find their symbols and signs to tell their communities they exist. It’s one of the oldest tricks in the book. Symbols say a lot more than words with racism. That’s how it starts. Sometimes it’s covert and coded. Hard for the average, sane person to recognize.

Before you know it…you have a full-blown movement in your area, especially in small towns. I’d say you have a secret network someplace. I don’t understand that infatuation with blackface. If it was something you hate so much you surely wouldn’t want to imitate it, but again — that’s sane and common sense.

Racism makes no sense.
