This is how I feel about belonging. My family are my friends. I love myself and I value my emotional well-being much more than hateful family members. We need to be with people who desire to be with us. Sometimes, it’s not our families. I get great pleasure seeing my family at funerals, for the time with them is temporary. I also get great pleasure waving good bye to the glorified family cliques too. Never again will they steal my joy or peace, I just wished I hadn’t spent so many years listening to those who don’t have dysfunctional families trying to make those relationships work.
