This makes you an AWESOME PERSON. It’s hard to leave cliques, groups, social clubs, churches and jobs. We’ve been trained to be creature of habits. Religion has conditioned us to believe all sorts of hurtful things that infringe on the rights of others. Religion gives privilege to a few (mostly men) to rule and govern over others unfairly. Religion and politics are heavily intertwined and they need to be divorced. As long as we the people don’t understand the huge role religion plays in our politics, we will continue to have the church harming people, the very people they are supposed to protect.

I left church nearly 9 years ago and I haven’t looked back. I’m free. It took me a long time to untangle the garbage put in my head. I felt I had been brainwashed. Made to partake in discrimination without taking into consideration real people. Church is outdated, as is most of organized religion. There are some very good things we can get from religion when it comes to living, but trying to conform to a rigid religion which excludes, physically harms, and abuses people is one of the lowest things I’ve ever done.

Good to you for breaking free of groupthink and deciding to put people first. It takes a lot of courage to free yourself. Trust me, the longer you stay away and the more you’ll research, the more you’ll discover how much you’ve been mislead. The world is so much bigger when you free yourself from religion. And even if you choose religion to guide your life, you don’t put it before people. People matter. I loved this essay!!!!
