Very true. By the time the people figure out the trends of corporate America co-signed by our government, they are 5–10 years too late. I reviewed grant proposals for a program which worked with 2-years community colleges to develop future workforces in less than 2-years to work in tech. Without going into too much detail, the program was also geared towards decreasing the number of immigrants. Your assessment is absolutely spot on. The trend is the shorter time you spend in college the more employable you’ll be. No longer are employers seeking a 4-year, 6-year, or 10-year education outside of medicine some other very specialized field (like surgeons).
People with more education are less valuable today, and less employable. The government moved 3–4 years ago to start investing in community colleges. People aren’t taught to follow the trends. Great essay my friend, and scary — but those who can adapt need to know what’s going on.
