What a horrible story and I am so sorry you were treated so horribly. This was a traumatic experience and definitely a reason to have feelings of discomfort around African Americans on an elevator. It’s definitely a reason to be uncomfortable, but I applaud you for not punishing every African American person you get onto an elevator with for something they didn’t do and know nothing about. Humans can be so ugly to each other. I would never think to treat anyone that way. Even when I was young.
