You did a magnificent job breaking down the complexities in the minorities. This scenario is exactly what happened to my partner. She worked for a elite law enforcement unit for the federal government for 15–16 years. She was promoted to a very elite unit which required months of training, and relocating across the country from California to Florida, uprooting her young kids to take the position that was advertised as available within one of her elite units home bases. She gets here, gets settled. Her division boss was a Hispanic guy (Cuban), a local from the area with the aire and disdain they tend to have for darker skinned people of African American and Haitian descent (Cuban hate/racism is a thing here in South FL, her last name is a Haitian one). Her immediate supervisor was a Black guy, and her group partner was a White guy out of work A LOT because he’d had several bouts with cancer.
In any event, the Cuban supervisor got a call from the White guy that had the slot my partner filled who moved and decided he didn’t like Atlanta, so he wanted to come back to home to FL. He moved my partner without her permission to a lower position that was equivalent to a being a street cop, despite the thousands of dollars spent to train and relocate her to the area for the specific position she moved for. The Cuban boss pretended he was eliminating her position, only to find he re-advertised her spot as soon as she was moved to the new location.
My partner protested the move, did the EEO …blah blah and nothing happened basically. The Supervisor’s response to the move and re-advertising her spot was that he needed more people on the streets, and that’s the only way he can get the government to replenish high ranking people in his department. Her Black immediate supervisor did nothing to stand up for her. All the men stood together, against the Black woman. The Black boss failed to look out for a sister who had come up through the ranks to get an elite position few Blacks get to partake of in this Bureau.
The Cuban Supervisor did what Cubans do here in SoFlo, saved a job for Whiteness at the expense of Blackness because that’s what he wants to be.
She retired this year after 21 years of service, but she wasn’t ready to. She could have stayed until she was 57. She did so because she was so dehumanized by the experience and knew she would never be able to move back up into her dream position. The move was a sort of a demotion (without the pay cut). While she had an awesome new supervisor, her experience was never the same. White men, and Cuban men run shit here, and if they all look out for each other. The Black supervisor didn’t say anything because he wanted to keep his little status and not rock the boat fearing the same would happen to him I suppose, or maybe he just didn’t give a shit.
After she retired, the sick guy with Cancer who was barely at work retired a few months later. She could have stayed in her previous position, traveling the world and making big bucks, but the Cuban guy and the White guy held their places to get the people they wanted so they can keep the status quo.
White men (and SoFL Cuban dudes) who hate Blacks!
Minorities fuck minorities. All the time. Twice on Sundays. Minorities absolutely stop upward mobility.
